Every year Phi Mu participates in a charity event, Pack the House in Pink, to support Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy, breast cancer awareness. This event is put on annually at a basketball game in Hanner Field House. Since it started to honor a Phi Mu who passed away from breast cancer, Zeta and Phi Mu were both asked to participate. Guests are asked to wear pink to the game and are given the opportunity to give money to breast cancer awareness when they walk in the door, from buying t-shirts, raffle tickets, or direct donations. Members from Phi Mu and Zeta Tau Alpha work the event to sell tickets in advance, gather volunteers, and pull the event together.

Pack the House in Pink

Our chapter here at Georgia Southern has started a tradition of putting together a local Rock-A-Thon at our Statesboro Wal-Mart and Mall. Phi Mu members get together at each location with rocking chairs and donation buckets to collect any spare change or money from customers as they come in, if they are willing to donate. It has turned out to be a huge success so we plan on continuing this tradition in the years to come.
