The Philomathean Society officially became Phi Mu fraternity on October 4, 1904. The Wesleyan chapter became the Alpha chapter. By 1925, Phi Mu had 44 collegiate chapters represented at the national convention. Today the Philomathean Society has grown into Phi Mu Fraternity with over 137 chapters nationwide. Phi Mu is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, which is an organization established to foster interfraternity relationships, to assist collegiate chapters of the member groups, and to cooperate with colleges and universities in maintaining the highest scholastic and social standards. Believing that our given word is binding. Striving to esteem the inner man above culture, wealth or pedigree. Being honorable, courteous, tender, Thus being true to the womanhood of honor. To serve in the light of truth avoiding egotism, narrowness, and scorn. To give freely of our sympathies. To reverence God as our Maker, striving to serve Him in all things. To minister to the needy and unfortunate. To practice day by day love, honor, truth. Thus keeping true to the meaning, spirit and reality of Phi Mu.
